I am running Redhat 8 and recently downloaded the latest version of firestarter thinking that this would solve the problem but somehow I still can't get the other two computers onto the net. When I cat /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward I get 1 and the result of "service iptables status" is as below
In Firestarter there used to be an option in the wizard for using NAT (Network Address Translation) which is what you need. Looking at my version (0.9.1) it seems to be gone or maybe it's because I have no other interfaces available for NATing. Try bringing up your connection to the Internet (PPP?) and then runing the wizard and see if it gives you the option... After that, you need to ensure that your other PCs have your RedHat box as their gateway i.e. the machine to send all unresolved traffic to. -- ************** * Simon Wong * ************** -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group - http://slug.org.au/ More Info: http://lists.slug.org.au/listinfo/slug
