I used to have no problem with root accessing my X server but since
upgrading to gdm2 it no longer works.
I have read through some docs on xauth and have the following in root's
.profile:
export XAUTHORITY=/home/simon/.Xauthority
xauth -v merge /home/simon/.Xauthority
When I log in as root I get the following:
Using authority file /home/simon/.Xauthority
15 entries read in: 0 new, 15 replacements
Writing authority file /home/simon/.Xauthority
Which looks like it's merging stuff back into my user NOT root :-(
Can anyone give me some tips?
