I don't use redhat, but when I had to set this up on redhat last time, I
did so by installing apt-get from http://freshrpms.net/ and doing
"apt-get install mplayer" etc.

I think that's the easiest way forward, and there's some good
instructions on that site about how to do what you need to do.

oh and "no" is the answer to your question, AFAIK.
