I used a 3Com card in my laptop - modem/LAN combo - with perfect success
under Linux for 3 years. RH 7, or maybe even 6 at that point, from memory
- should be fine under 8 or 9.
The card was a 3Com Megahertz - the current card is model number
3CXFEM656C - mine was earlier {didn't have that type of plug}, but the
chipset/config should be the same.
