Yes, that may well be the case. Different distro manufacturers do deals with various non-free suppliers so you may find some extra goodies in the more expensive distros that you might otherwise not get. For example, they may sometimes bundle any of the following extra items in with it:
Oracle developer IBM's DB2 Sun's Star Office Etc Then again you can sometimes get hold of these items separately with promotions.
