Yes. I used a a HP3C scanner with the transparency top from a HP
6100C/T. I purchased it very cheaply to try and it worked.

I used the Gimp and/or Xsane.

The images were adequate for my needs. The major problem was the quality
of the original slides {:-). They were up to 30 years old and taken with
a cheap SLR .
