-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 kevin, unfortunately this is not just limited to the banks. I called optus tech support a week or so ago because we were having no end of problems with connecting to the internet and all, I was asked to go to my network places and promptly told the lady I was using smoothwall. which is based on linux. the response I got was I'm sorry but we don't support linux, however if it's windows or mac, we support it.
after which I had it suggested to me that I remove the modem driver and reinstall it. to which I replyed there's no modem driver. I was duely told that all modems need a driver no matter serial or pci or isa. After this little bit of information which I promptly disguarded as utter bullshit, I asked how full the dialin servers were. I was promptly told that the blacktown pop which is where i live, was at 50% capacety. after ending the call on that note, I tryed the internet again and surprise surprise connection first go. it's about time people started supporting linux. at the very least at the gui level. the more information they can give us about their services the easier it is for us who actually give a shit what goes on our computers to debug our problems. isps need to wake up and realise that there's more than windblows out there. oh and on supporting mac, I told the ill imformed pleb on the other end of the phone that mac's os is unix based, to which I got no valid argument. so there you have it. it's just not the big 4, it's the isps as well. - -- Shaun Oliver "I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person." email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] WEB: http://blindman.homelinux.org/ IRC: irc.awesomechat.net:6666 IRCNICK: blindman -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQFAERn267hYtcFGIIcRAlFsAJ4/WWknBQxINacY9YXs9EHlOq3R7QCgk6uO 3S5VYh5Ul2LNuDwipVr4cco= =sloU -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html
