Robert was talking about the Panel Applet, but you could also use gucharmap,
which is a complete character map tool. You can even use it as a GTK+ input
method. ;-)

That's where all that funky AltGr stuff comes in. I don't pretend to know it
well, because I'm just a monolingual dunce. I'm sure there are webpages
about it (or speak to someone you know who writes in multiple languages).
