Afternoon sluggers,
A couple of weeks ago I did an apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade
on my deb sid installation and X broke.
I have silly nvidia closed source drivers. Hmmm...
startx shows the nividia splash screen and total freeze of machine in that state. Hard
reboot.
Chaning /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 to use vesa or nv drivers resulted in a similar freeze
(minus splash screen).
So, first I tried re-installing nvidia badness. No effect.
did an apt-get install <latest 2.4 kernel> leaving nvidia out of the picture, still
freezes with nv or vesa.
Have I done something totally daft?
Is something broken in X in sid?
Any thoughts welcomed...
Hal
