I have no idea what this book is like, but I understand that double
entry accounting hasn't changed its basis since the phoecians (sp?)

Sorry to trump you on that one but double entry bookkeeping is basically an early renaissance invention -- the first manuals being available around 1458, traceable to a monk from Dubrovnik. The first printed manual on it appeared in Venice in 1494.
Well after the phonecians, I'm afraid.
