Okay these are the calcs I used you tell me

128Kbit/s  56byte ack packet and 1500 worth of data (forget about over
head)

128*1024/(56*8) - number of acks per sec 292
So I can acknowledge 292 full packets
292 * 1500*8 which is 3504000 roughly 3500kb/s.

I know the network (linux - ethernet - cable modem - cable) can handle
more (on down stream).  I know the link is okay between here and the
states, well for me.  I can log onto another box (not cable though) and
pull down more whilst I am hitting my head room.

What I am asking is a way to recieve more info or to be able to ack for
large packets of data.  Why cause my downstream bandwidth is a lot
bigger.
