Hi, well I have finally gone & dunnit! I have signed up for ISDN, because in the boonies, we cannot get ADSL. The deal is/was $55 installation, then ~$45/month + $16.50/month unlimited digital connection (using my existing ISP with the 01983.... connection number.) Details for interested persons can be found on the T$%& website The ISDN digital interface (modem?) has an Ethernet port, so should be easy to hook to my firewall (IPCop).
I will change my second line to prepaid, at $13.95/month, & use the ISDN for outgoing. This should minimise the time I lose the 128K connection, as I have been told the switching is automatic?? I have checked with my ISP (dodo) & they have advised me that I can use the ISDN directly with the existing 01983... phone number. The unlimited deal on the Data calls is new for those interested. (so no longer do you need to use the analog modem to escape the 30c/hour charge) regards Doug (PS: there is only one Co offering ISDN to my knowledge as I would love to change!) -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html
