Morning Sluggers,
A "friend" just bought a D-LINK 560M USB Modem for me. I plugged it into my Linux box but got nothing, no power no life from the modem, However there are some messages on the console;
"usb.c: USB device 3 (vend/prod 0x572/0x1232) is not claimed by any active driver."
I'm a bit ignorant about USB on Linux, I naively thought that I'd just have to reference /dev/ttyUSB0 instead of /dev/ttyS0 for the old fashioned serial, but obviously I'm way off base.
I assume that I need a kernel driver for each USB device. A quick google reveals some people asking for drivers for this modem but no replies.
Is there any hope for this modem under linux (2.6.5 kernel) or should I frisbee it out the window?
P.
