is it an adsl modem or modem-modem

adsl modems are usually just usb network cards.

if its a modem modem, then yeah google for it,
or look on www.usb-linux.org (could be linux-usb.org)

sorry off the top of my head. generally dlink
stuff is good in linux though. i use generally
with some reservations.
