I didn't realise people still used Acroreader on Linux systems. As a long time Debian/PPC user, Acroreader has never been available so I've always relied on xpdf, ggv or other excellent PDF-capable viewers. Being able to press "r" to reload a document when using pdflatex and friends is one of life's simple pleasures. I've always bypassed xdvi because the final document is never sent in DVI format.
Yes I have xpdf. I crashes on large PDF files,of about 3 or 4 megs or larger. It also exits with errors on some PDF files from other people - I don't know what the problem is there, whereas acroread can open just about any PDF file. It may be more forgiving of incorrect PDF. xpdf does not tell me what fonts are embedded in the document or other document information. Though it is better than acroread for keyboard shortcuts.
