Can somebody tell me what "Kernel Headers" are and where they reside on
my box ? Are they installed at initial installation by7 default ? The
mandrake doc in the kernel source rpm says the headers are in a separage
package to the source and I need both to compile the kernel. Search in
Mandrake's repository draws a blank, but I find rpms for other distros
such as kernel-headers-2.6.7-1.i586.rpm in the "Polish Linux"
repository. Are the headers specific to a particular patch level - i.e.
I have the mandrake source patched for low latency... would the headers
still be standard 2.6.7.1 ?
The problem I'm running into is documementation that mentions you need
something but doesn't tell you what it is named, where it is found on
your system if you have it or where to obtain it. Given that sort of
information and accurate configuration information I can help myself.
thanks
Rod
