Thanks for the warning.  I wasn't aware that a CD has to be finalized in order
to become readable  (I think the only time I tried multi-session burns I managed
to read without finalization, but will check again).  If this is true
then I'll drop this
dream and think of an HDD (still a bit scary with its sensitivity) or
a tape (which
might become a problem to find another driver if it fails on me sometime in the
future when tapes are too scarce to come by).
