Hmm i just tried that...
I got into X...
But for some reason CTRL+ALT+F1 no longer works to switch back to the terminal (in plain X, or KDE, or gnome) so i dont know whats going on...and therefore couldnt do the test...
CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE managed to kill it though

Hi,

How about running it on a "bare" X server? Wouldn't it give more
accuratly comparable results?
Just take the system down to non-X runlevel then run "X" and fire
firefox with a -display option.

I understand you ran firefox on KDE to get your results.

Are you able to run firefox on GNOME to get similar statistics ?

Do not change anything else, please, just the desktop.
