After searching hi and lo I came across an entry in a forum archive:
http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2003-December/077746.html

That basically says I have to add the machine as a user to my server, add
that user to a samba account and then set that user as a machine trust
account in samba.

Now being an infant in terms of my administration skills. I don't know if
this is the only way or not..... but it works

Regards,
Phill

For what it's worth, my wife's Windows XP machine shows the same
thing, and it prints fine. May I suggest you investigate CUPS and
www.linuxprinting.org which should hopefully make your life a little
easier.

Cheers,
