you should have selected a desktop installation at install
however,
you are not at all lost. infact i dont like the install templates
just run (as root)
apt-get update
apt-get install x-window-system
and then youll need to install something like
apt-get install enlightenment
or something other worthy window manager
ie
apt-get install wmaker
