Hello slug,
This is the first message that I have posted to this list so please
forgive me if there is something I'm not getting.
Upon booting up after upgrading MOBO/chip I receive the message that X
server cannot be started and does not appear to be set up correctly.
I've picked out the following lines from the X server output. I think I
got all the meaningful bits.
X window system version 6.8.2
OS Kernel Linux version 2.6.10-5-386
logfile :"/var/log/Xorg.o.log"
Using config file :"etc/X11/xorg.conf
then three lines, all very similar except for the last few characters!
"/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libGLcore.a:m_debug_clip.o"
_norm.o
_xform.o
NV: No matching device section for instance (Bus ID PCI:2.0.0)
No devices detected
Fatal server error
no screens found
I am using the same video card as on the old board. It is installed in
an AGP slot as on the old board, yet the same OS as before doesn't seem
to recorgnise it??!?
What distro are you using, Fedora? Mandrake? Suse? Ubuntu? etc etc
Sounds like drivers for the new chipset/mobo are not installed.
Depending on the distro there is likely a tool to detect new chipset,
etc etc. Or is it possible that the new chipset is not supported??? I'm
really guessing here. A good start is probably the distro and the old
and new mobo/chipset details.
