So you'd prefer something like "Linux - It's an Operating System". Whatever your reaction was, you cannot extrapolate that across the entire population. I personally think Gentoo sounds like some sort of mucusy eruption. But that is just my opinion. A name is whatever people make it, especially when it comes to brand awareness.
