Does you ISP not provide you with a secure SMTP server you can authenticate to? If they don't, switch ISPs or use the Gmail one. For example, I have exim on my laptop setup via a ssl tunnel to Internode's secure SMTP server. Exim authenticates for for me and it just works. I'm sure sendmail can do similar. Therefore no matter where I am there's no need to switch anything (as long as I pay my ISP bills :) -i
