We'll it seems with a little more digging I found the following, so

And it makes reference to Network UPS Tools or "NUT" for monitoring.
Site contains a HOWTO also.

I have a few MGE-UPS Pulsar Ellipse USBS units.

I think the Nova is an older model and possibly wrong socket type (ie,
needs international adaptors).

The Pulsar Ellipse USBS come with a serial and a USB cable so you can
use whichever suits. I had a hell of a time trying to get the USB
system working (it's more difficult to setup the permissions and I
didn't have enough experience to get it going). The serial cable was a
much easier option.

I can't remember the exact situation, but newer versions of Linux
won't work with the USB port with the MGE PSP, because newer Linuxes
use hotplug, or don't use it, or somehow changet the way it was used
and MGE haven't updated the PSP to deal with this. NUT shouldn't have
a problem though, but it will be probably be easier to setup with the
serial cable.

I still haven't worked out the CentOS 4.4 shutdown scripts, but that
will be the subject of another thread if I don't get any further at
the SLUG meeting (the shutdown scripts are only required to ensure
unattended restart, not to safely shutdown).

The Pulsar Ellipse USBS models have a very usable configuration of IEC
and International power sockets, so you won't need any funny adaptors
to make good use of the sockets.

I got mine from Powertronix.
