Hi list, As the subject says my system hangs at this point. /etc/rc.local only has "exit 0" in it. I can ssh into the machine, thankfully, but what can I do to stop it hanging at this point, please?
If you can ssh into the machine then it means that the sshd daemon was startted successfully. Which brings the question of "what do you define as "hung"? Maybe all that happens is that you don't get a login prompt. Have you tried other virtual consoles (ALT-F<n>)? When you ssh into the machine - can you see getty or X server processes? What other processes do you see and what do you find in the log files (/var/log/...)? And BTW - what distro is it? What hardware and what did you change just before it started "hanging"? Just a few things to check... --P -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html
