The dist-upgrade command should be a lot more robust than a 'dist-upgrade' - it is expressly designed to deal with the issues that occur when switching from release to release, and has significantly smarter package-selection logic than apt/aptitude for this case. That said, yes - it can be a problem if the gui fails during upgrade, and the next version of the upgrader will run the upgrade engine detached, so that if the gui dies, no interruption to the upgrade occurs. -Rob -- GPG key available at: <http://www.robertcollins.net/keys.txt>.
