Because it's trendy? Yeesh! I couldn't think of a WORSE reason to make a specific technology decision. That's worse than "nobody ever got sacked for choosing... (IBM/MS/Java)".

But this is how many people make decisions in areas that they are not knowledgeable in. Once x is trendy then a generic manager will listen to advice suggesting x, before that many will not move outside known/safe.
