When I last tried the official Linux client, it gave me endless problems and kernel panics, as is traditional for part-binary drivers. What I did instead was to hack up vpnc to work with Contivity... the great thing about vpnc is that it runs completely in userspace and you just route whatever traffic you want through its tunX interface. This should eventually make it into upstream vpnc, but it might take a while given that the changes are non-trivial and I have limited time. I can send you the code if you like though.
