Didn't you say you're using firefox 2.0.0.2? That's not standard on any released fedora that I know of. If you installed it yourself from source, or from an alternative rpm repo, then I suspect that could be the origin of your problem.
I am using that version, which is the latest available from Mozilla. As to how I got it installed, for some time now, whenever I've seen reference on the Web to the existence of an update, I've gone to the Firefox Help tab, clicked on Check for Updates and the update's been automatically downloaded from the Mozilla site and installed. I can't say that it's been said every time, but certainly for the last few times, including for v 2.0.0.2, the Mozilla people have said they "strongly recommend" updating for security reasons, so I have. I can't now be sure, but it may well be that my problem first arose after (and therefore because of?) this latest update.
However, since I couldn't get any answer when I posted in the Firefox forum, maybe I've just got to live with it.
