ATI, at least with binary drivers, is far worse. I can't speak for the Free
drivers.
This subject has been useful as I was looking to get a notebook to
replace a desktop system, as well notebook has advantages which I
won't go in detail as its not related to the topic at hand.
I was planning on getting one with nvidia video chipset over the intel
onboard one supplied, but since seeing this topic and recently seeing
a url someone posted for the intel onboard chipset drivers having good
open source support, I've decided the upgrade cost for the nvidia
video chipset is better spent on upgrading something else in the
system or even adding a 2nd power supply.
Thanks for the discussion from all.
