Before I bother downloading and trying Etax, can you describe
what exactly the software does?
A read of the ATO Etax web pages indicates that IE/6.0 "components"
are required for security. But on another page they say that next
year they will have software ready for all systems that connect
to the Internet. Sound very strange, to say the least.
All of this stuff can be done reliably and securely using current
browser technology that runs on any platform.
