Out of interest, why is a native Linux binary better than Wine?
Especially if the ATO supported Linux via Wine?


From my personal gut feeling - Wine can also run viruses. Once you put it on
your Linux system you are getting your hardware that much closer to the
wonderful malware-infested world of Windows.

Of course, since my taxes have paid for this, I would have
preferred that the application be free software.


Or maybe define/use an open protocol (e.g. XML over HTTPS? AJAX, ATOM 2.0,
whatever) which anyone can implement.
