Turned on the laptop (Fujitsu running Hardy Heron). Logged in. Password works, but please wait while a detailed reading of the hard disc takes place. Routine, it said. Please wait, it said.
Hum. Must be part of HH's splendid retinue. How nice. Notified that updates are available. Alright then. Please supply password. Password incorrect and continued to be so despite repeated attempts. Went to command line. Did some typing. Some letters do not correspond to keys pressed. Shut down and started again. Password works. But only the once. Rest of problems were as described. Short of re-installing, can anyone suggest something? Another read of the hard disc, but this time get it right? I'd hate to think that Gates's revenge has finally arrived, starting with my innocent laptop.
