It can sometimes take as much as 24 to 48 hours for memtest86(+) to show
up memory issues, and in some cases they just don't.  Linux is,
surprisingly, actually harder on the memory subsystem at times...

It sounds like a memory fault; have you checked the kernel message
output from dmesg?  I presume so, in which case you have presumably
gotten "lucky" about where the faults hit, so nothing in-kernel has
detected the problem.

Try pulling out the memory module and see if it stays dubious, and if
not return it to the shop and ask for a substitute, or for them to test
it for faults.
