/lib/modules/2.6.17-11-generic/volatile/nvidia.ko /lib/modules/2.6.17-11-generic/volatile/nvidia_legacy.ko /lib/linux-restricted-modules/2.6.17-11-generic/nvidia /lib/linux-restricted-modules/2.6.17-11-generic/nvidia_legacy and then install the nvidia drivers again. This worked for me. One other thing to check would be what settings are being used for your monitor. They may be the problem.
