Well I have a dilemma

I installed Fedora 10 on my Laptop a month ago and now and can not get
my Optus HUAWEI E169 USB Modem to work

When I plug it into the laptop I get nothing in the network manager as I
did in fedora 9 (In fedora 9 in come up in the network manager and just
worked).
I have set up kppp to connect and I did but I still don't get any
connection to the internet. I have confirmed with OPTUS that I have a
connection and they tell me I have.
The device does work and connect but I can't get on the internet with
Fedora 10.

Now my dilemma is my home ADSL and No Phone is down (Faulty), it will
take 2 to 3 days for Telstra to fix. and I need internet.
I have got an other laptop with that "W" system installed with the Optus
HUAWEI E169 USB Modem connected and shared internet set up on it with a
cross over cable to my Fedora 10 Laptop. While this is a solution it is
not the answer I want or need.

Can someone please help me get my Optus HUAWEI E169 USB Modem to work on
fedora 10.
