I haven't tried on my Fedora installations, but those modems do work
brilliantly with Ubuntu (better than Windows). It might be easier to
just use an Ubuntu LiveCD if you just need a quick-fix for a couple of
days. Then you can sort out the real problem when you have full
Internet.
