Seasonal greetings earthbeings,

Having moved house, kith, kin and several million tons of junk and then
de-re-de-re-and then-re-connected, disinfected, recollected and partially
resurected everylittle computer thing, I now find myself with only half the
required sound features. What I mean is, playing sound is fine - all payback
apps just work, but I am having a small problem on the recording side.

By "small" I mean that I'm a broken man - nothing works.

Environment = PCLinuxOS 2007+updates, 7 boxes ranging from PII (Deschutes)
through a P4 with Soundblaster Audigy LS, plenty of everything.

Now the question, does anyone know of a simple (pref KDE) sound system
diagnostic tool? By simple, I mean not Audacity, aRTSxxxx, etc. Just some
app that will display a scope of the input channels of the soundcards/onboard
chips etc etc.

tia and happy Hanuka

bruce
