When I have had my notebooks repaired I have actually sent them without the hard-disk.
I mainly do that on the basis of the fact that 1. I need access to my data 2. I don't want to give the repairer that same access. Of course this isn't quite as easy with the flash based system. ( I know the Asus EEE 901 16GB SSD is removable, but I think the 4GB system drive is not user removable).
