I guess you have to know how to talk to them, a lot of the time they
will say they don't support Linux/BSD/BeOS etc, that is when you talk
their language, saying you know it is a hardware issue via running their
tools, and having a report from those tools showing the error usually
seals the deal, at worst you swap the harddrive back to their
windows/cutdown linux install and send it back for them to see it is not
the os.
This approach is not going to work if we want to get Linux into the mainstream
as a business tool not a hobby/toy. I believe that an eeePC running Linux
(or maybe even a Lenova or other brand running a distro of linux) could have
been
a strong contender for the NSW Schools Tender - if we move away from the hobby
idea - this is why I thought the vendor offering to install and presumeably
support
various versions of linux was interesting.
and for the eeePC, this mob seems to be offering a Linux install on the
Asus Eee PC S101 - presumeably they also offer the option of Xandros.
