It's called an "ATA" (Analogue Telephone Adaptor)

That's not a long way, Use tpg.com.au/maps to workout what speed you'd
likely get.

Suitable devices include most of the Billion 6xxx series, Linksys PAP2
and clones. I'm using a Zyxel 2000 series that is doing fine. It was
on special for about $30. Most of the time you'll need to spend around
$50-100 to get something capable of 1-2 phones.
