Maybe I'm just typing the wrong thing into Google, but this seems a

Connect my existing land line phones into some piece of hardware so
I can then
use my cable internet connection to make calls.
I've had a Linksys SPA2102 for about a year now using GoTalk.
Considering work pays for my Internet connection (ADSL 1500/256) it
means my land-line costs are fixed at $15/mth. Haven't had any
problems really. The only performance problem I've had is
occasionally external parties have reported a little bit of break-up
when I've been doing bandwidth intensive stuff while on the phone.
However, I put in place come QoS/ToS stuff on my Netgear FVS338 router
at home and the problem went away - made sure I always have at least
100kbps up and down[1] for the VoIP traffic :)
The Linksys PAP2 is very similar to the SPA2102 and you can pick up
either for under $70 these days.

James
[1] Of course, download rate limiting is a bit of a waste of time
unless the ISP does it from their end[2]. Still, figured it can't
hurt :)
[2] ...why delay a packet on my gigabit LAN when I've already received
it?!?
