What's more, the report says (and I'm paraphrasing a summary here)
"We can block a list of a few thousand URLs with 100% effectiveness
and no noticable false positives, with no noticable slow down of the
internet. Non-URL based filters were only around 75% effective, which
is better than last time. However, any motivated technical person can
evade the URL list filter. If we try to prevent evasion of the filter,
we will definitely slow down the internet."

I agree with the sentiments about
violence in games and child
pornography is illegal already. But for
another view see:

On transit through Singapore Airport a
few years ago, I tried to check my
website - but it didn't exist. I assumed
one of two things....censorship or a
problem with the DNS.
Though, recalling the incident in the
current discussions, I checked my
November stats which do include visits
from Singapore.
It isn't just youtube - there are
personal sites bundled by most ISPs and
then there are the wordpress blogs:
<http://en.wordpress.com/tag/no-clean-feed/>
and
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_censorship_in_Australia>
<http://blog.nocleanfeed.com/2008/12/blacklisting-of-wikiepedia-in-britain.html>
so, what about Sourceforge or other
Linux repositories and Wikis...which for
example could contain an open source
games....note gambling is also in the
scope of censorship.
If we want to take a really pessimistic
view, of where censorship of the net
could go, there are not only those who
deny Climate Change is being influenced
by Human activity, but also those who
deny evolution....but there are enough
implementation issues to focus on.
...and wearing blue shoelaces is not
going to fix that.
