Just to follow up, there's a patch in MythTV for this and for Ubuntu there's packages available.
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=9473004 I've found it moderately successful in drowning out the vuvuzela. However, it's clear the SBS audio has already started filtering it.
