your response was kind and graceous

I try!

I was hazarding a guess that Mike was 15-16 as he said he was in year 10 and I didn't want his parents to think that some strange man was attempting to lure him out alone late at night to some bizarre location suspiciously called "SLUG".

:)))

and I have no doubt whatsoever that it
carried no slight.

I try!

If Mike is a 17yo vs say a 12yo then it is condescending :-)

You're right in that if I thought he was 17-18, then I would have merely suggested her consider coming to one of the meetings...the hazards of e-mail and the Internet: no-one knows if you're a <insert current media fear/favourite animal>

It's fascinating what a year or two can mean to ones personal view of not/okay.

Footnote 1: I guess Mike can let us know whether he can come alone or (were he my son/daughter) will have to come with an adult :))

Mike??

Footnote 2: Many years in child protection have cruelled my chance of a naive and fancy-free view of the world, others and others perception of me.

:(
