I was using Hylafax until my fax line disappeared in a telephone reorganisation a few months ago. One line and 3 computers as clients. It worked fine, although it might be a bit old fashioned for the point and click brigade.

The modem was a Netcomm ultra roadster II which I still have, is pretty ancient but still works.

I have no idea what you would use now. A lot of cards (maybe all?) are winfax and therefore a pain in the posterior.

I only used it for the occasional fax in or out, but it was perfectly effective.

We were using Hylafax as of about 5 years ago, but due to the constant
problems we were having with the modems and the cost associated, we just
went with email-to-fax. I know that's not what you wanted to know, but if
they are receiving anything over a few faxes a day it's really worth using
external services.

Sorry I can't offer anything else!

Hi Guys and Gals

I have a customer that wants a little Fax server to receive faxes from
two lines and send them to email as PDF. I have suggested external
services such as UT Box but the customer does not want this

Is Hylafax still the way to go? What Modems/Fax cards have people used
successfully with Hylafax.

I'm looking for guidance here, particularly in the modem area as I
know Linux can be a little finiky about certain modems

Looking forward to your responses
