Recently , I had to register for a course and I had no choice but to use IE to complete it. After googling for a while , I managed to find a site with a package called ies4linux and got IE running on my Ubuntu in 5 min or so. So I am pointing the site address here in case someone needs it , hopefully not :Phttp://www.tatanka.com.br/ies4linux/page/Installation
If you're a Firefox user, there is an extension which opens a tab as an IE tab [1]. I'm not sure whether this addon has all the functionality you need; the summary states it's "a great tool for web developers, since you can easily see how your web page displayed in IE with just one click and then switch back to Firefox."
