Hi all

I have a Ubuntu Dapper system running on a RAID-0 setup. All
partitions except /boot are on /dev/md? devices. Since there's no dual
boot to worry about, the raid is mdadm managed instead of dmraid.

Now I plan to install Feisty on this system. Since Dapper -> Feisty is
an unsupported upgrade path, I have to do a fresh install.

So I started the Feisty install with the intention of retaining /home
& /share and formatting the rest of the partitions. Unfortunately,
when using the manual partition tool in the feisty alternate
installer, I got a big warning message saying exisiting raid can't be
reused! But then, it still detected the existing RAID layout. I wasn't
sure of continuing with the install so I chickened out of the install
and started googling but didn't find any useful answers. :-(

I could go ahead with the installation and in case /home is
overwritten, restore from backup. But if /share is overwritten,
that'll be a pain since I don't want to backup 200GB of movies, etc.,
just for this.

Has anyone done such an install over an existing RAID? Any advice
would be much appreciated!

Thanks

deepak
