Engineer, IT Systems (1 x Junior and 1 x Senior)
Job Role:
The key mission of the IT Systems Engineer is to reduce
complexity, automate, secure and
support the organization's processes using Information
Technology.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Operating Systems
a) Installation of operating systems on multiple CPU platforms
b) System upgrading and patching
c) Security hardening of operating systems
d) Systems administration, maintenance, backup/restore and
performance tuning
2. Applications
a) Installation of applications on desktops, laptops and servers
b) Application pre-configuration
c) Troubleshoot application problems
d) Upgrading and removal of applications
e) Customizing and providing macros for applications
3. Networks
a) Setting up and maintaining the corporate network
b) Network design and configuring wired/wireless network
c) Security hardening of the network
d) Managing VPN, Proxy and Internet gateways
4. Support
a) Providing end-users with user guides and documentation
b) Liaising with 3rd party software/equipment vendors for
support
c) IT Asset management
d) Enforcing the IT security policies and other processes
Job Requirements:
1. Working experience
a) At least 2 years of hands-on experience in Unix/Linux (some
Windows) administration
b) At least 3 years of experience in wired/wireless TCP/IP
network administration
2. Working knowledge
a) OpenLDAP, Java Enterprise System, SunRay Client/Server,
Samba, NFS, openSSH and
Linux terminal server
b) Solaris 10, Java Desktop System, Windows XP, Linux, FreeBSD
6.0 and MacOS X
c) Strong networking and operating system concepts
3. Qualifications
a) Minimum diploma in computer science, computer studies,
information technology or
related disciplines
b) Certified Cisco Network Associate
4. Personality
a) Resourceful and self-driven individual with sense of urgency
and commitment
b) Willing to learn and always striving to improve
c) Ability to work independently and as a team
d) Good communication skills, both written and spoken
e) Good initiative and analytical skills
Candidates who have the following certifications and/or
knowledge would be an advantage:-
a) Technical certifications such as CCNP, RHCT/RHCE, Certified
BSD Expert, Apple
Certified System Administrator or MCSA/MCSE would be
preferred
b) Working knowledge of JSP, PHP, Perl, Python or shell script
is an extra plus
Candidates who are able to standby 24/7 whenever necessary are
preferred and compensation, such
as monetary incentive or recognition shall be rewarded.
