For me, I increase change the Preemption Model to Preemptible Kernel
Low-Latency Desktop also.
I don't think this option might help, but for desktop application should be
okay.

I think the next option I change should matter.
Timer Frequency, I've changed to 1000 HZ instead of 250 HZ previously.

So far, I think my desktop is a bit faster and I don't get OOps and strange
problem yet.
Like firefox can't open till reboot, own system lockup or so. For my 64-bit
kernel.
It might helped.

On 8/3/07, Ow Mun Heng <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:Just tried out
Linuxpowertop from Intel to see what's eating my
batteries. Based on it's suggestions, I then re-compiled the kernel to
include NO_HZ, HIGH_RES_TIMER and TIMER_STATS.

After that, I keep getting OOps in my kernel and the whole GUI becomes
un-responsive.

SSH works, and had to shutdown -hr now it.

I reverted to the old kernel and things were OK.

Does anyone seen this issue?
